June 28, 2013, Unveiling cannon of 24cm Iron

Invited guests and interested parties were present in large numbers to experience this.

After carrying out various military marches, the moment was that a number of people were included in the hall of fame of the fanfare. A marketer had brought a small barrel of gin for this purpose. With a toast to this joyous event, the liquid was knocked back by all those present at once.

Then all those present followed the brass band to the bed where the cannon would be unveiled. Geuzen from Brielle were present with a cannon to festively frame the unveiling with a big shot. The cannon was packed. The chairman of the Hellevoetsluis Defence Works Foundation gave a short lecture about the history of the cannon. Then, as a surprise, Alderman Hofman arrived in an artillery uniform of a captain to deliver his speech.

Opening reception area

Following the unveiling of the cannon, the reception area of our Foundation was opened by alderman Hofman. Before that, the glass entrance door was blinded and provided with a QR code. With this code, the alderman read out the opening text and the opening was a fact. Afterwards, a toast was made to the cannon and to the future of our foundation. After the opening, everyone could take a look in the beautiful reception area.
