The Battle of Hellevoetsluis, 28 and 29 June 2014,
It is December 1813 when Brielle is liberated from the French. Farmers, citizens and some soldiers go to Hellevoetsluis to chase away the French there as well. But it's not that easy. There are deaths and injuries. In the weekend of 28 and 29 June 2014, this battle was re-enacted by a large number of re-enactors of the Napoleonic Association of the Netherlands. A great spectacle that should not be missed.
For those of you who don't know exactly what re-enactment entails: it is reviving a historical event. In this case, it will be accompanied by authentically dressed soldiers, cannon roar, musket fire, and gunpowder fumes. Of course, all desired security and precautionary measures are observed by the competent troops of the Napoleonic Association of the Netherlands and the gunners of Hellevoetsluis.
