Hellevoetsluis has a rich history, despite its relatively short existence of four centuries. Started as a drainage canal for the polder water in 1395, Hellevoetsluis has grown into an important naval port in the Netherlands with defenses that were unique to the Low Countries.

Our foundation would like to share the rich military heritage of Hellevoetsluis and its immediate surroundings with everyone. On this site you will find a limited offer about this military heritage. Heritage is something you have to experience and that is why we invite everyone to participate in one of the activities.

For example, from April to October there are guided tours of the Hellevoet coastal battery.

Did you know that we also offer private tours? At a time determined by you, it is possible (depending on the availability of a guide) to get a tour with a select group.
